I AM sad to hear that Salisbury’s youth hostel has been sold.
I remember staying there long before we moved here.
Any money from the sale should not just go to YHA funds, it should be ring-fenced for a new hostel in Salisbury.
The city needs budget accommodation especially when it is attracting young people and families from around the world because of our cathedral, Magna Carta and Stonehenge.
There are brown-field sites and empty buildings ripe for redevelopment and many other businesses would benefit from a larger, city-centre hostel.
