I WAS the Blue Badge rota guide for the Salisbury City Walk on Friday, August 24, and had a phone call from the SIC to say that they were shutting during the morning because there was a meeting to discuss the move to the "hub". So it would appear that the change is progressing despite suggestions to the contrary.

In the 15 minutes I waited outside the closed SIC before the start of my tour, 14 people approached the SIC door and were clearly irritated to find it shut. I was not surprised at the considerable variety of questions they asked. These ranged from transport queries to requests for specific tourist pamphlets displayed on the SIC shelves. This very brief survey indicates the ongoing demand for an SIC in central Salisbury.

Closing the existing tourist office will leave many tourists dissatisfied and unhappy. Clearly not a good situation for a city hoping to restore its tourism after a Novichok attack.
