Let us splice the main brace and toast Mr Roderick of Trafalgar School, trusting that he will stand to his guns and ride out the impending storm.
Let us also hope that our other schools follow the flagship and do likewise, especially the one in which I was a fellow-voyager for a number of years.
The smartphone is an obsessive, addictive and potentially pernicious instrument, particularly (alas, but it must be said) in the hands of girls.
My sole concern lies with the cumbersome, time-consuming and possibly confrontational process of locking and unlocking hundreds of individual pouches.
An outright ban might in the end be the more practical option.
The principle behind the initiative, however, is perfectly sound.
