I JUST wanted to say how utterly delighted I am with the news that a drinking fountain is to be installed in the Market Square. As somebody who lives in the outskirts of Salisbury and often walks in to do my shopping, it constantly annoys me that it is virtually impossible to get a drink of water without buying a bottle, then having to throw it in the rubbish.
We see organisations like Oxfam raising money to supply fresh clean drinking water to third world countries, and yet this something up to now we have been unable to do in our own city! On a wider basis I’m so happy that I can have a drink and feel like I’m doing something to save the planet. Huge thank you to the Species Recovery Trust and the city councillors for this brilliant initiative and I hope we will soon see fountains all over the city!
