A 90s-based brand-new escape room game is being built to test participants' collaborative skills.
Called the Smallsbury Toy Company Workshop, the game will bring old favourite characters back to the fore including Pac-Man, Bagpuss, Banana Man and more.

Co-owner Claire Pitcher said: “The plan for this game has been a long time in the making. Lockdown gave us the time and space to start building this and we are still building it but it’s three-quarters ready. The idea was to make a classic game and to turn it into a retro board escape room game filled with 90s nostalgia.
“This is very much a collaborative game. It will take 75 minutes and so, is longer than other escape room games at 60 minutes. It will be across the whole of the first floor.”
Participants can expect Mario Carts, Superhero table football, a Pac man maze and the need to dress up in shell suits.

The couple have played more than 200 games themselves to ensure they fully understand what people enjoy the most within the escape room genre.
Claire and her husband Charlie form the concept of the game and design and build each game from start to finish.
Claire said: “Charlie was a product designer and engineer and learned about design and is great with electronics and mechanical design.”
Located in the former Cross Keys Chequer Tea Rooms, Claire said: “The building fitted our vision of escape room ideas, but we have to make the place pay. We hope that the Smallsbury Toy Company Workshop game will be ready for people to enjoy in the early summer.”
