Thousands of people flocked to Durrington Recreation ground last weekend for the annual Retro at the Rec and Sunday Funday events held over the Bank Holiday weekend.

With Retro in its seventh year and Sunday Funday in its 14th year, Disco Dion and the Sunday Funday crew put on two events for everyone to enjoy.

Sponsored by Saphire Utility Services and Porton Garden Centre, the Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27 events were primarily held as an opportunity to bring the local communities together, also raised over £2,500 for local groups, organisations and charities.

Event organisers Dion and Emma Spencer were overwhelmed with the support from not just the local community but also those who had travelled from further afield to enjoy the fun, games, competitions and dances. Stalls, inflatables, face painting, and a selection of food vendors were on offer, with displays from Wildcatz Warriors cheerleaders and a dance masterclass from AYDC. The crowds were also entertained nonstop by Disco Dion in the arena.

Dion and Emma are already planning next year's event, which will be held on Saturday August 24 and Sunday, August 25, which will see Sunday Funday celebrate 15 years.
