A SHOP and small café selling products from Turkey has opened in the city centre.
This is the second business venture in Salisbury for owner Arman Akbay who already runs the Wine and Coffee House located in The Maltings.
The new shop with a small cafe is located on Silver Street.
Arman's aim was to divide the business by offering improved service for customers.
She said: “The café grew after Covid and was successful, and it is at the riverside. My customers love our coffee and it is so busy, but people cannot look easily at the lights or the ceramics on display when the café is full.”
“I decided that maybe I could move all the products, and perhaps more people will visit us. I will keep my coffee shop in The Maltings, and it will be all about the café. Here, (Silver Street) there will be coffee and small cakes that’s all.
"People can try a Turkish coffee or a Turkish baklava, a kind of dessert which is very popular in Turkey with pistachio, or walnut, sometimes, try with ice cream.”

The emphasis on the new venue is all about the products. There are clothes and there will be more shoes.
Arman’s aim is to create a relaxed atmosphere where people can browse the extended range of products and enjoy a Turkish coffee if they wish to sit and relax.
There is even a selection of English and Turkish books for those who wish to sit and enjoy a coffee or sweet treat while reading a book and there will be magazines to browse too.

The café/shop has been set up to provide comfortable seating at the back of the shop but there are also seats along the bar area and a plan is in place to add a few more on one side.
With the cost of living crisis, setting up a new shop is a gamble.
Arman said: “I know but sometimes, everyone needs to buy something, so they can just pop in. We will see. January, February and March are quiet anyway, but maybe in the future, it will be better and my prices here are very good, not too high."
