A NEW independent shoe repair and key-cutting business run by an experienced cobbler has opened in Salisbury.

Stuart Moss, 51, opened Mossy's Shoe Repairs at 86 New Canal on Tuesday, September 5, after moving to the rural village of Newton Tony for a calmer life.

The third-generation cobbler had been repairing shoes since he was 16 and worked under his father before running his own business in Southend-on-Sea, Essex.

Mr Moss hopes his latest venture will fill a gap in the market for the personal level of service an independent, "old school" cobbler can offer.

Mossy's opens from 8.30am-5pm on weekdays and 9am-5pm on Saturdays offering shoe, leather and watch repairs as well as key cutting and engravings.

"There's nothing that's made with leather that I can't fix," said Mr Moss, who claims his customer service is "second to none".

He added: "I moved to Salisbury for a better way of life and noticed there was no independent shoe repair shop. People are so much more friendly here, they say hello and smile."

Mr Moss has plans to offer exclusive discounts for pensioners further down the line.

"Come in and say hi, see what I'm about", Mr Moss said.
