THREE hairdressers working at a salon in Salisbury have scooped major awards, including International Barber of the Year.
Smith England, in Silver Street, was recognised among some of the most prestigious barbershops in the world at the Australian Modern Barbers Awards on Sunday, November 5.
George Smith, who won Men's Hairdresser of the Year in 2022, competed against barbers from around the world and collected his trophy in Melbourne.
"My mind is blown! To think that I could make the line-up of the world's greatest barbers, let alone go on to win, is a career dream come true," he said.
The salon celebrated two more award wins on the same night back in the UK.
Victoria Tryhorn picked up the title of Apprentice of the Year and Isobel Andrews won Future Talent at the Salon Awards 2023 for the Wiltshire region.
The contestants competed to be recognised as the best in their area at the Leonardo Royal Hotel in London.
Miss Tryhorn was named Apprentice of the Year at the British Hairdressing Business Awards in July and has since been promoted to stylist at Smith England.
She said: "This tops off an amazing year for me. My life has changed massively in the past two years but I wouldn’t change it for anything because I have found a career that I love.
"I’m so proud to be a part of the Smith England team and I can’t thank them enough for the opportunities they’ve given me so far.”
Miss Andrews said she's "forever grateful" to salon owners Phil and Louise Smith, who rebranded TONI&GUY in April to bring all their staff under one roof.
"I’m still speechless. It was definitely a night to remember. I’m over the moon to have won the award," she added.
Smith England now stands as one of the most awarded independent salons in the UK.
Mr Smith said: "It’s been an exceptional and award-winning year for Smith England. Since the merge we’ve seen award nominations and wins come through thick and fast."
