The Salisbury branch of an ice cream parlour chain has shut unexpectedly.

Customers have been left confused by the sudden closure of Sprinkles Gelato at New Canal in the Old George Mall.

According to Facebook posts in Salisbury UK Notice Board the shop closed and was left empty earlier this week. Estate agency Frontier Property has put 'shop to let' signs up in the windows.

One customer even said they accepted her online order and payment for click and collect but to her surprise she found no one there.

Searching for the business on delivery apps and websites leads to an error message like on Uber Eats which says “nothing to eat here”.

The website is still running as usual, with the normal opening hours listed.

Sprinkles opened in the former Santander unit in 2016. The dessert company opened its first parlour in Southampton in 2012 and currently has stores open in Portswood, Above Bar and Below Bar in Southampton and another shop in Portsmouth.

Sprinkles Gelato has been contacted for comment on the reason behind the closure.
