A PUB has shut for a full, substantial revamp after it was acquired by new management.

The Market Inn, at 16 Butchers Row, was reportedly closed from Saturday, January 27, so that the works can be completed.

Stonegate, which owns the pub, said the pub will be reopening "in the coming weeks" once the revamp is finished.

The Journal understands the Chickpea Group will be managing the pub and that further information will be announced later this week.

A spokesperson from Stonegate the space will be "uplifted", adding: “The Market Inn, Salisbury, is currently closed.

"The pub is currently undergoing a full, substantial, interior revamp and will be opening in the coming weeks once works are completed, to welcome guests to the uplifted space."

Next door the Ox Row Inn is also closed for a month-long refurbishment and is expected to reopen on Thursday, February 22.

General manager of the Ox Row Inn Emil Szoma previously told the Journal: "It's more of a refresh, it will be a continuation of all the great stuff the Ox Row has done before."
