A FIRE at Harnham Sports and Social Club is believed to have been started deliberately, Wiltshire Police says.

The fire service were called to the Harnham Sports and Social Club at about 2pm yesterday (May 18).

A fire had broken out in the roof above the function area and spread to the building. 

At the time of the incident, a training course was being held in the function room, and noises were heard in the roof.

Following the blaze, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said that the force believed the fire had been started deliberately.

They added: "We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at around 2pm yesterday, who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously, or running away from the scene. Any information you have could help our investigation."
