FOUR bubble classes are not going ahead today in a school near Salisbury, as a child was sent home with a cough earlier in the week.
Old Sarum Primary School, in Pheasant Drive, had decided four classes will need to continue working from home, after a pupil was sent home on Wednesday displaying Covid-19 symptoms.
The school has now confirmed that the child has tested negative for Covid-19, so classes will return to normal on Monday.
The school reopened on Tuesday, after the Government urged for schools to reopen for specific year groups from June 1.
Old Sarum Primary said: "We are pleased to say that the child who was sent home on Wednesday with a cough has tested negative for Covid-19. We look forward to seeing all bubbles classes on Monday. Have a lovely weekend."
In a previous statement, John Jones, head teacher at Old Sarum Primary, said: "We are waiting for the outcome of a test for a child sent home with a cough on Wednesday. We are expecting this result soon, but tomorrow [Friday] we will continue to have four 'bubble' classes staying at home.
"The ‘bubble’ classes that will need to stay at home for now are: Miss Apps Pipers Reception class, Mrs Joyce Hawks Year 1 class, Mrs Holmes Years 2/3 class [and] Miss Townsend Years 3 and 4 class.
"Thank you for your understanding and patience during this time."
Another school, Amesbury Archer Primary, also closed one of its bubbles today, after a member of staff started displaying symptoms of Covid-19.
