More than 20,000 people have received the first dose of a Covid vaccine by GP practices in Salisbury.

This includes patients who have attended Salisbury Cathedral clinics, which opened on January 16, as well as housebound patients and staff and residents in care homes.

The jabs were rolled out by the Sarum South Primary Care Network which consists of Salisbury Medical Practice, Three Chequers Medical Practice, Harcourt Surgery, Whiteparish Surgery and Downton Surgery.

A spokesperson for the group said: “We are so proud of all our staff and volunteers across the network for reaching this milestone, working tirelessly to vaccinate the local population. We would like to say a huge thank you to the whole team who have made this happen.”

GPs are currently vaccinating patients over 50 (cohort 9).

Anyone in this category who is registered with a surgery in the Sarum South Primary Care Network should contact their GP practice to book an appointment at Salisbury Cathedral.

Salisbury Journal:

Earlier last month, on February 25, GP practices in the Sarum West Primary Care Network, which are overseeing the rollout at Wilton's Michael Herbert Hall, revealed they had delivered their 10,000th vaccine.

A few days before that, the same milestone was reached by staff and volunteers at the City Hall large-scale site.

According to the latest figures, more than 110,000 under 60s have been given the coronavirus jab in the Wiltshire CCG area since the rollout began.
