"Community Pharmacies across the country have been open to the public throughout the pandemic, serving the needs of patients in local communities. They all deserve our thanks and support."

Day Lewis is the fourth pharmacy to have been approved for the vaccine rollout in the Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire CCG area.

The other pharmacies are The Pharmacy in Ludgershall, Shaunaks Pharmacy in Westbury and Avicenna Pharmacy in Swindon.

Tim Rendell, Head of Pharmacy at Day Lewis Pharmacy Group said: "95% of patients live within a 20-minute walk of a community pharmacy so it’s really significant that places like this are open, supporting the national vaccination programme."

Elizabeth Phelps, NHS Volunteer, added: "It's great news for the community of Downton that they will be able to have their Covid vaccination in their own neighbourhood."

According to the latest NHS figures, 3,966 people have been vaccinated in Downton and Morgan's Vale so far - 59.4 per cent of the Downton population.
