We have discovered more clues about the mystery craftsperson, or people, bringing the cheer to Salisbury this Christmas with their jolly postbox toppers and displays.

Yesterday we shared a plea to find the 'phantom knitter' who created a brilliant postbox cosy of an elf stuck in a postbox on Market Square.

It must be a very tight 'knit' circle, as those in the know are being cryptic about the talented creator, labelled 'Yarnsy' by a reader on Facebook in reference to the elusive street artist Banksy.

We have discovered that they are a she, from varous sources who claim to know her, and she will be keeping her identity as a mystery so please do not reveal it in the comments.

The term 'knitter' may have to be retired as perceptive readers have informed us this looks much more like crochet.

It appears one of Yarnsy's works appeared at Halloween too on the corner of Fisherton Street, the Salisbury sewing shop Franklins sharing a photo of the cover she created near them.

Salisbury Journal:

Of course she is not acting alone, 'yarn bombers' in Salisbury never failing to impress with their designs.

If you've spotted any more festive postbox cosys feel free to share them with us.

A lovely nativity scene atop a postbox (there must have been no room at the inn) was sent in by reader Samantha May Wong who wondered if it was by the same 'talented lady'.

Samantha said: "We have loved finding them and think they're so clever."
