A lorry's trailer was 'stuck under a bridge' this morning, causing a section of the A36 to close.

At around 10am today (Tuesday April 19), an HGV struck Kingsway Bridge, near Kingsway House.

Both lanes of a stretch of Warminster Road (A36) - between the A30 in Salisbury and the A303 in Deptford - has been closed ever since.

According to Network Rail, the lorry hit the bridge and the lorry's trailer was stuck underneath it.

An environmental support unit had to attend, as there had been a spillage of mineral oil.

Nobody is believed to have been injured.

As of 3pm, the lorry is ready for removal, and fire services are still clearing up on the scene.

Once the lorry has been removed, police and National Highways can reopen the road.

Emergency services attended the scene, along with a Network Rail mobile operations manager to inspect the bridge. The manager confirmed that there was no damage to the bridge other than a few minor scrapes.

The investigation, currently being handled by Wiltshire Police, will be handed over to National Highways, who will assess any damage to the carriageway and if emergency repairs are needed.
