THE new Everyman Cinema will open by Spring 2023.

Everyman applied for permission from Wiltshire Council to transform the former Buzz Bingo, 17 Endless Street, into a four-screen cinema over the summer.

Salisbury City Council gave the plans its support but raised concerns over its business impact.

And now, scaffolding around the building displays a message saying "Everyman Salisbury opens Spring 2023. We can't wait to show you around".

According to the application, the cinema would include four screens.

The plans aim to "restore and highlight" art deco features, with "the foyer, lounge and waiting areas for the cinema will be furnished with loose sofas, tables, and other furniture".

Both bars will provide a place for customers to buy cinema tickets, typical cinema food of popcorn and drinks as well as Everyman’s “Spielburger” food offering.

The site is a former purpose-built cinema, originally opened as Regal Cinema in 1936.

The cinema had around 964 seats in the stalls and 644 seats in the circle. It was renamed the ABC Cinema in 1963, before being closed in 1969 and after this converted into a Bingo Hall.

Everyman was not able to confirm a specific opening date when contacted by the Journal
