Apprentices from a local housing association have helped transform stables at Wiltshire Wildlife Hospital.

The work took place during National Apprenticeships week (February 6 – February 12) and apprentices from the local Housing Association, Aster Group along with eight other employees treated the wood on the newly-built stables and fixed the electrics so lights could be installed.

The paint was donated by Jewson Partnerships and the material for the lights was donated by John Gribbs. It enables the hospital staff to use the stables all year round.

Apprenticeship partner at the Aster Group, Jessica Scull said: “It’s incredibly rewarding to have been able to give back to our local community. It really goes to prove that forming a team and working together can achieve fantastic results.

“This will enable Wiltshire Wildlife Hospital to continue to do the fantastic work they do, supporting those animals desperately in need of their help.”.

Wildlife care supervisor at the Wildlife Hospital, Marilyn Korkis, said: “The work done will make a fantastic amount of difference to the baby deer. It will give them peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the hospital. They’ll be able to enjoy the outdoors and fresh air. It’s just fantastic.”
