The series written by Steven Knight, starring Olivia Colman, was filmed partially in Salisbury during March of last year, featuring a horse and cart and a lone horseman.

Filming took place in the Cathedral Close.

Myles Place was the main location but filming also took place in the field opposite.

Salisbury Journal:

The series has been given mixed reviews prior to its release, and while being described as “gritty” by numerous reviewers, and The Telegraph describing it as a “fresh twist” on Dickens’ novel, The Independent have described it as “needless and lazy”, with other reviewers all seemingly agreeing that the best word to describe this adaptation is “desperate”.

Independent reviewers seem to have a more positive take on the BBC remake, and it is after all, as is all television, completely subjective.

Regardless of these mixed reviews, viewers can expect a newer take on this Dickens classic, and as described by Variety, an “electric” Olivia Colman performance as Miss Havisham.
