Tickets for comedian Michael McIntyre’s two scheduled performances at Salisbury Playhouse sold out within less than an hour of being released.

Of the 1,000 tickets available, 400 were released on Friday, June 16, at 10am for Wiltshire Creative Supporter members. The remaining 600 tickets became available to the general public at 11am.

Interest was very high, when the Journal called the phone booking service shortly after 11am, audio was lagging and there were 15 callers ahead in the queue.

The final few tickets for Michael McIntyre's Salisbury shows were sold just before midday.

Kate Morley, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Creative, said: “They were very, very careful with how the tickets were sold so it was fair to everybody and everybody had access.

"They were done on a first-come, first-serve basis and they were very careful that the tickets weren’t all going to members. They kept 600 back.

“They did everything they could. Unfortunately, it’s a very popular event, so obviously there will be some people who are disappointed and, of course, we’re incredibly sorry about those people that are disappointed but it was done incredibly fairly.”

This will be the second year that Michael McIntyre has appeared at the Salisbury Playhouse. His performance at the venue last year also sold out in less than an hour.
