On Mid-Summers Day, the Mayor of Salisbury, Councillor Atiqul Hoque, hosted his first fundraising event of the mayoral year at the Mercure White Hart Hotel, Salisbury.
The event was fully subscribed with guests enjoying a reception in the sun lit courtyard followed by a dinner after which physicist, astro archaeologist and Stonehenge tour guide Simon Banton gave a talk on the Astronomy of Stonehenge.
Via donations and a raffle of donated items, £4,700 was raised for the mayor’s three chosen charities- Salisbury and Wilton Rotary Clubs, Wilton RDA and Salisbury Hospice Charity.

“Simon Banton the way he explained all about the history, all the archaeology, it was just mesmerising.”
