A MAIN road into Salisbury which was closed for three weeks has reopened.

The south entrance to Castle Road, A345, was shut from Monday, February 5, until February 26 to enable SGN to carry out emergency work on the gas mains.

A leaking section of pipes on Churchill Way West, A36, and northbound lane of Castle Road were replaced.

Before the works, SGN said replacing the pipes was the only permanent solution to address continuous leaks that had resulted in unplanned emergency repair work.

Salisbury Journal: Castle Road has reopened.

The road closure was initially expected to last until February 17, during phase one of the works, but SGN extended the closure for the full duration of the repair.
