ANOTHER set of temporary traffic lights has been installed on a main Salisbury road so that 'emergency' gas repairs can be carried out.

Drivers have been told to expect delays after lights were installed on Wilton Road, near the junction to Cherry Orchard Lane, at 1pm on Friday, April 5.

Gas company SGN is conducting emergency gas works and the lights are expected to be in force for five days, ending just before midnight on Wednesday, April 10.

Residents have taken issue with the lights, claiming they stopped working shortly after they were installed and gas engineers were forced to direct traffic using hand-held signs instead.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Council said: "Please find an alternative route to travel, or allow extra time before you set off."

Roadworks are also taking place further along Wilton Road near Tesco Express. This was first reported on March 29 and is expected to last until April 10.

Wilton Road has been subjected to several emergency gas repairs in the past year.
