THE secret to a successful salon is "knowledge and building a rapport with customers", according to a Salisbury hair and beauty awards finalist.

The Hair Extension Cave has been shortlisted as 'Hair Extension Salon of the year' in the UK Hair and Beauty awards 2022.

The salon, currently on Fisherton Street, will find out if it has come out on top during the ceremony in March in Heathrow.

The awards are honoured by Creative Oceanic but voted for by the public, gathering and celebrating hair and beauty professionals from across the country.

Describing the nomination as "a surprise", Hair Extension Cave owner Molly Cook said: "I didn't think this would happen but I'm so happy.

"To win would be great, and we're moving the same time as the awards, so it really is starting the year perfectly."

The salon is currently relocating to the former Starbucks site, next to the Poultry Cross, with hopes to open next month.

When asked what makes customers keep coming back, Molly said: "The secret is listening to customers, making sure you know what they want and how they feel, and building relationships and caring for them.

"Having that knowledge and building a rapport with customers is everything.

"Being an expert in what you do helps as well."

Other local salons shortlisted in the awards include The Beauty Lounge in Bulford, and The Wakki Hair Co. in Ludgershall.
